How do you deal with depression?

Please use this thread to give us your personal journey to how you got through your depression after divorce.  Tell us your symptoms and what your thoughts were during your depression.  Share how long it took for you to get where you are today and what helped you to regain the strength mentally to get where you are now.

Did counseling help? Why or why not?

Did listening to soft music, cleaning, or shopping help?

  1. Sitcoms. But not 1 or 2 episodes. The WHOLE seasons.
I recall 1 weekend watching most of Jerry Sainfeld 9 seasons and the only thing I was doing to pause laughing was going to the bathroom to pi.

I would also avoid meeting people to talk about their dramas and rather talk about what success looks like

Book - attitude is everything for success

  2. I have to admit aside from the support of great friends, goals have always been number one in resolving my stress.

No matter how bad things might seem, if I had something to look forward to in the future, I would become and remain balanced.

The book "The Secret" was a great motivator. If you make yourself determined that you will have your greatest desires, then you WILL. You just have to believe.
